THE “OTHER REALITY” OF MAN

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the unity and diversity of forms, as well as the internal contradiction and drama of human self-existence, called “other reality”, which, on the one hand, is based on the physical, biological, individual and social reality of man, on the other hand, is qualitatively different from them. Such an analysis allows the author to come to the conclusion that “other reality” is the immediate (immanent) reality of man, in which and by which he lives, whereas all the previous four levels of reality have an indirect character for man: man can always see them only through the prism of his “other reality”. As a consequence of the unity of being and non-being, which is embodied in the principle of intentionality as the desire of non-being for being and, in particular, the will to live, “other reality” is itself the unity of being and existence, which is created by man as a subject endowed with reason, moral and aesthetic sensibility, and free will. All the basic forms of “other reality” complement each other. Here, each form is necessary: the disappearance of at least one will inevitably lead to the death and disappearance of all the others. At the same time, the basic forms of “other reality” constitute a series of opposites, in which each side finds its reality, meaning and value in the opposite side. The exclusivity of the “other reality” does not save it from its internal contradictory nature, which, on the one hand, ensures its qualitative development (historicity); on the other hand, conditions its temporal and temporary character, the drama of its existence, and inevitably leads the “other reality” to its self-destruction. Only the sensual ability to distinguish between good and evil, as well as good will on the basis of adequate thinking and reliable knowledge, can prolong the existence of “other reality” as far as it is possible in principle in accordance with its ontological potential.
