POLITICAL MYTHOLOGY: THE ISSUE OF IRRATIONALITY.

Abstract

The article presents a critical analysis of some concepts identifying the mythical with the irrational, emphasizing the irrational essence of a myth. A general concept of the irrational in politics is given allowing to study political myths as an attempt to explain the political reality in the circumstance when reality seems incomprehensible. The phenomenon of 'myth creation' is also considered in its form of children's folklore. The impact of political mythology on political science and practice is analyzed.
