Abstract

The article describes an attempt of Soviet officials to slander and illegally tax Metropolitan Manuil (Lemeshevsky)at the beginning of the 1960s.The author step-by-step analyzes actions of Orthodox hierarch which were directed to stop public slander of Soviet pressand prove that he was innocentto the fictitious financial speculation.
