Abstract

The aim of the paper is to analyze conceptualization of the phenomenon of freedom in social theories of modernism and post-modernism. The author makes a conclusion that freedom in modernism is interpreted as a universal attribute of an ancestral man while in postmodernism freedom involves reflection, uncertainty, risks and choice of every person individually.
