Keywords:

The article looks at contemporary debates around international criminal tribunals, in particular, International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Given that ICTY's completion strategy envisages that the tribunal will be closed down in the near future, it seems important to examine the ways its effectiveness was assessed by academics and its own employees and by means of a comparative analysis point out major problems identified by the epistemic community. Special attention is paid to the interrelation of political and legal aspects of the tribunal's activity in the context of post-conflict settlement in the former Yugoslav states and its importance more generally as a mechanist of post-conflict resolution.Downloads
